Siler and Platycodon C. = Fang Feng Tong Sheng San = "Ledebouriella Powder that Sagely Unblocks"

signs and symptoms: Strong fever and chills, headache, red eyes, sore throat, skin eruptions, nasal congestion with thick, sticky nasal discharge, dry mouth, sensation of fullness in the chest and diaphragm, constipation, scanty urination; may be obese.
tongue and pulse: Yellow, greasy tongue coating, and flooding, rapid or wiry, slippery pulse.
indications: Exterior and Interior Shi (Excess) Heat. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as food poisoning, obesity, hypertension, erysipelas, carbuncles, urticaria, dermatitis, scabies, alopecia, acne, nasal suppuration, red nose, shoulder bursitis, arthritis, influenza, asthma, arteriosclerosis, chronic nephritis, habitual constipation, hemorrhoids, and sciatica.
cautions and contraindications:
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 9 grams: gypsum (shi gao), talc (hua shi).
» 6 grams: siler (fang feng), schizonepeta (jing jie), platycodon (jie geng), forsythia (lian qiao), Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), white atractylodes (bai zhu), white peony (bai shao yao).
» 3 grams: ephedra (ma huang), mentha (bo he), scute (huang qin), gardenia (zhi zi), rhubarb (da huang), mirabilitum (mang xiao), cnidium (chuan xiong), licorice (gan cao), fresh ginger (sheng jiang).
modifications:
» for cases with strong chills, omit ephedra (ma huang).
» for cases with strong fever, omit gypsum (shi gao).
» for cases without constipation, omit rhubarb (da huang) and mirabilitum (mang xiao).
