» conventional diagnoses: neurosis; hypertension; chronic ear problems; hyperthyroidism; tachycardia; pulmonary tuberculosis; lumbago; chronic urogenital problems.

» etiology: chronic physical overexertion; excessive sexual activity, esp. during teenage years; chronic debilitating illness, esp. transmitted from Liver, Heart or Lung through their condition of Yin Xu (Deficiency); Heat of febrile disease producing depletion of Body fluids; Liver Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency) due to chronic blood loss, e.g., menorraghia; overuse of heating medicines, esp. herbal Kidney Yang tonics.

• spontaneous sweating, esp. night sweats

• dizziness

• insomnia

• excessive dreaming

• poor memory

tinnitus, deafness

• blurring of vision

• malar flush

dry mouth at night

• thirst

• hot palms and soles

• constipation

• aching in the loins

weak and sore back

• nocturnal emission

• premature ejaculation

• dark scanty urine
