location: between the second and third metacarpals, on the dorsal aspect of the hand, about 0.5 cun posterior to the metacarpophalangeal joint

indications: migraine headache; acute whiplash; restricted cervical rotation; crick in the neck; pain/tension in the shoulder, neck and arm; sore throat; stomach pain
needle technique: perpendicular or oblique insertion, 0.3 - 0.8 cun, producing a local sensation of distension and numbness, sometimes spreading to the fingers
combinations:
» use alone for acute whiplash (Legge, p. 107);
» with xin shi for stiff neck (Shanghai, p. 256).
