Huo Luo Xiao Dan = "Fantastically Effective Pill to Invigorate the Collaterals"

signs and symptoms: Pain, bruising and swelling due to traumatic injury, rheumatic pain, fixed abdominal masses, internal or external ulcerations.
tongue and pulse: Dark tongue or one with static red points, and wiry pulse.
indications: Qi Stagnation and Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) Obstructing the Collaterals or Vessels. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as cerebral thrombosis, angina pectoris, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, sciatica, arthritis, and traumatic injury.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated during pregnancy.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 15 grams: Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), salvia (dan shen), mastic (ru xiang), myrrh (mo yao).
modifications:
» for abdominal pain in women, add persica seed (tao ren) and pteropus (wu ling zhi).
» for red, swollen, hot, and painful ulcerations, add lonicera flower (jin yin hua), forsythia (lian qiao), anemarrhena (zhi mu).
» for non-healing ulcerations, add astragalus (huang qi), anemarrhena (zhi mu) and licorice (gan cao).
» for pain in the lower extremities, add pubescent angelica root (du huo) and achyranthes (niu xi).
