Jing River, Fire and Dispersion point of the Foot Xiao Yang (Gall Bladder) channel
location: 4 cun superior to the tip of the lateral malleolus, on the anterior border of the fibula.
actions: dispels Wind and Dampness; reduces Liver and Gall Bladder; dissipates Heat from the Gall Bladder; frees the channels; invigorates the collateral vessels
indications: frequent sighing; dyskinesia due to stroke; paralysis; malaria; persistent high fever due to common cold; unilateral headache; chronic and stubborn migraine headaches (Maciocia, p. 226); pain in the lateral canthus; epistaxis; pharyngitis; throat numb; cervical adenitis; scrofula; goiter; anorexia due to pathogenic Heat in the Stomach; hemorrhoids; fullness of chest and abdomen; aches and pains throughout the body; muscular and/or vascular spasm in general; generalized arthralgia; pain in the chest and hypochondriac region; chest pain accompanied by pain in the buttocks and knees, extending to ankles (Mann, p. 65); pain and stiffness of the neck; torticollis; supraclavicular and axillary pain and swelling; sciatica; sensation in lower body as if sitting in water (Mann, p. 65); pain and soreness in the calf and lateral aspect of the lower extremities; pasty skin
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, toward interior margin of medial malleolus, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, producing local soreness and distension.
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
