indications: trigeminal neuralgia; Bell's palsy; facial paralysis; spasm of the facial muscles; excessive salivation
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, with anterior direction, 0.2 - 0.5 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, which sometimes extends throughout the cheek; or oblique insertion, in a medial, downward direction, through mental foramen, 0.5 cun, producing an electric, numb sensation extending to the lower lip; the latter is esp. appropriate for treating trigeminal neuralgia.
