location: Anterior and inferior to the lateral malleolus in the depression on the lateral side of the tendon of m. extensor digitorum longus.

actions: promotes decisiveness, courage and initiative (Maciocia, p. 451); clears and drains Fire from the Liver and Gall Bladder; spreads the Liver Qi; benefits Gall Bladder; disperses intercostal pain; softens hard masses; transforms Damp-Heat; treats external trauma, esp. below the waist; benefits the joints; frees the channels

indications: timidity; indecision; lack of courage and initiative; tidal fever; malaria; paralysis; sequelae to stroke; migraine; conjunctivitis; pharyngitis; goiter; acid regurgitation; hiccoughs; fullness of the chest; difficulty breathing; pain in chest and ribs; acute upper abdominal pain; colic; cholecystitis; lower abdominal pain and distension; axillary lymphedemitis; muscular spasm; pain and stiffness of the neck; difficulty rising after sitting; pain in buttocks; sciatica; lower limbs painful; soreness of leg due to twisted muscle; disease of ankle and surrounding tissue; painful inflammation in the heels

needle technique: perpendicular or oblique insertion, toward interior margin of medial malleolus, 0.5 - 0.8 cun, producing local soreness and distension; or penetrate through to Kd-6

moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
