definition
"Staghorn" Algae (Lessoniopsis littoralis)
Therapeutic theme: holding ground (sense of self) amidst turbulence and confusion; accessing higher consciousness
Signature: Sturdy holdfasts which resemble the horns of a stag anchor this Kelp at the lowest tide zone where it is whipped about by the open surf of the Pacific Ocean. Stags have been the companions of royalty for centuries and in many cultures. They are mythically associated with gentleness and are said to carry the 'spirit' of kings. It is an edible perennial plant and may have as many as 500 blades.
When we really feel lost and alone and disconnected from our own divinity this essence will help to reestablish the connection. The antlers of the stag are symbols of antennae which can connect us to higher forms of attunement and perception. Staghorn essence is beneficial to the eyes both physically and metaphysically.
Staghorn essence reawakens spiritual clarity. It promotes the qualities of steadfastness and gentleness. If we become brittle and set in our ways we snap and break. If we can hold fast and attune with higher consciousness amidst the crashing and thundering waves of the ocean we will survive. Gentleness dissolves more barriers than force.
Staghorn essence works with the Gall Bladder channel - physically to relieve tight and painful shoulders, and to improve coordination; mentally to help with clear thinking and decision making especially with regard to making choices which are life supporting and beneficial to physical and emotional health.
