Window of the Sky point

location: Level with the tip of the laryngeal prominence, between the sternal and clavicular heads of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.

actions: regulates Qi and Xue (Blood); facilitates flow of Qi; benefits and soothes the throat; relieves hoarse voice; ventilates, cools and clears the Lung; relieves cough and dyspnea; soothes asthma; resolves Phlegm and disperses masses, esp. disperses goiter; sedates pain

indications: mumps; orbital neuralgia; trembling of the upper lip; aphasia; hypersalivation; hoarse voice; laryngeal spasm; sore throat; goiter; cervical lymphadenitis; excess mucous; shortness of breath; cough; stridor; wheezing; rales; asthma; pain in opposite hip

needle technique: perpendicular or oblique insertion inferiorly, 0.3 - 0.6 cun, producing a distended and constricted feeling in throat

moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

combinations:

» with CV-22 and Kd-3 for wheezing (Shanghai, p. 165);

» with CV-22 and LI-4 for hoarse voice and/or congested throat (Shanghai, p. 165; p. 557);

» with PC-5 and LI-4 for hoarse voice (Shanghai, p. 556);
