Eriobotrya and Ophiopogon C. = Qing Zao Jiu Fei Tang = "Eliminate Dryness and Rescue the Lungs Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Hacking dry cough, wheezing, dry throat and nasal passages, headache, fever, irritability, thirst.
tongue and pulse: Dry tongue without coating, and deficient, big, and rapid pulse.
indications: Wind Heat-Dryness with Cough. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as acute and chronic infectious diseases such as influenza, bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, or pertussis; asthma, hacking cough, and hemoptysis.
cautions and contraindications: This formula should be used with caution in patients with Spleen and Stomach Xu (Deficiency).
ingredients: dosage for two days:
»10 grams: gypsum (shi gao).
» grams: morus leaf (sang ye), honey-fried eriobotrya (mi zhi pi pa ye), ophiopogon (mai men dong), gelatin (e jiao).
» 3 grams: sesame seed (hei zhi ma), ginseng (ren shen), apricot seed (xing ren), licorice (gan cao).
modifications:
» for profuse, thick, and sticky sputum, add fritillaria cirrhosa (chuan bei mu) and trichosanthes seed (gua lou ren).
» for constipation, add persica seed (tao ren) and linum (huo ma ren).
» for Xue (Blood) Dryness, add fresh rehmannia (sheng di huang).
