Saussurea and Cardamon C. = Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang = "Six-Gentleman with Aucklandia and Amomum"

signs and symptoms: Poor appetite, belching, indigestion, abdominal distention or pain, sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.
tongue and pulse: pale tongue with thin white coating, with feeble and weak pulse.
indications: Spleen and Stomach Qi Xu (Deficiency) with Middle Warmer Damp-Cold. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as chronic gastroenteritis, gastric distention, gastric ulcer, chronic peritonitis, morning sickness, anorexia during convalescence, and delicate constitution in the elderly.
cautions and contraindications:
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 6 grams: ginseng (ren shen), white atractylodes (bai zhu), poria (fu ling), pinellia (ban xia).
» 3 grams: saussurea (mu xiang), cardamon (sha ren), citrus (chen pi), honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao).
modifications:
» for morning sickness with tendency to Cold, add dry ginger (gan jiang).
» for morning sickness with tendency to Heat, add bamboo shavings (zhu ru).
