» etiology: mid-stage of febrile illness originating from exterior Wind-Cold or Wind-Heat

signs and symptoms

signs and symptoms:

• high fever or tidal fever

• delirium

• thirst

• vomiting

• abdominal pain and distension (worse with pressure)

• constipation

• burning pain in anus

• sweating (esp. limbs)

» pulse: full, big, deep

» tongue: red with thick dry coating which can be yellow or brown-black

course and prognosis

» principle of treatment: clear Large Intestine and Stomach Heat; stimulate bowel movement
