Xi Cleft Accumulation point of the Foot Yang Ming (Stomach) channel
location: 2 cun above the laterosuperior border of the patella.
actions: expels Wind; pacifies the Stomach; quiets Rebellious Qi and calms wheezing; clears Heat from the Stomach; opens the breasts; dispels Stagnation and Accumulation of the Yang Ming (Stomach and Large Intestine); inhibits intestinal peristalsis; supplies Water to the Kidney by way of the internal duct of the Triple Warmer; treats acute soft tissue injuries of the knee; facilitates the joints, esp. benefits the knee; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels
indications: gastritis; stomachache; stomach cramp; diarrhea; mastitis; low back pain; Obstruction of the lower extremities; numb and cold lower limbs; pain in the loins, knees and feet; swelling the knees
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.5 - 2.5 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, possibly spreading to foot
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
