actions: uterine tonic, diuretic, anthelmintic, emetic, emmenagogue

dosage:

» decoction: 1 oz. root to 1 pint water; 1 cup three times daily (for threatened miscarriage it should be taken every 2-3 hours)

» tincture: 2 - 4 ml.

therapy: estrogen balancing, delayed or absent menstruation, ovarian pain, threatened miscarriage, increase fertility, morning sickness, impotence, atony of kidney, mental apathy and impaired memory, diabetes

» use with caution during pregnancy

» handling fresh plant may cause contact dermatitis (Keeler and Tu, pp. 431-434)

» milk may become ill-flavored in lactating mothers (Westbrooks and Preacher, p. 169)
