therapeutic foods
» Stagnant Liver Qi or Stagnancy in the Liver channel:
• foods that invigorate the Qi, Liver foods, sour foods, Dispersing foods, foods that open channels
• citrus peel
• liver-cleansing foods: beets, carrots, artichokes, lemons, parsnips, dandelion greens, watercress, burdock root
• foods rich in Vitamin B-complex
• brewer's yeast

fresh juices:
• carrot, celery, parsley, and spinach (Walker, p. 146)
• carrot and spinach (Walker, p. 146)
• carrot, beet, and cucumber (Walker, p. 146)
• lemon juice in warm water (Shefi)

specific remedies:
• tea from licorice, Chinese black dates, and wheat chaff (the part that floats on the surface of water) (Ni, p. 147)

avoid:
• meat, alcohol, hot sauces, spicy foods, fried foods, fatty foods, rich foods, salty foods, sweets and sugar


supplements

• Vitamin B6 25-100 mg per day (Barr 1984)
• Vitamin A 100,000-300,000 IU per day (TOXIC DOSE) (2nd half of cycle, if female) (Block, 1960, p. 586ff)
• Vitamin E 300 IU per day (2 month trial)
• Magnesium 400 mg per day (Nicholas)
• omega-6 fatty acids (e.g., evening primrose oil 500 mg three times daily)
• tryptophan 2 g per day
• tyrosine 2 g per day
