character typology of Reich and Lowen:
TOUGH/GENEROUS (PSYCHOPATH 1):

etiology: Child led to believe that its' needs are not as important as parents' needs; mother may be domineering or seductive - serious injury or illness may also create sense of being overwhelmed. Child feels powerless and put down by parent.

characteristics: Denies feelings, minimizes being overwhelmed; ignores feelings of others; wants respect; deceptive, indirect, and opportunistic; trades image for reality; status oriented, manipulative.

physical appearance: Aggressive/angry movement, large upper body, little energy in lower half; voice soft, sweet, seductive, may mumble; holds breath statically in chest.

strengths: Leaders, powerful speakers, charismatic, generous, entertaining, charming, cool under fire, good with words.

life orientation: "I can be independent if I do not give up control." Must dominate and control all relationships and cannot form a close relationship.
