da heng = great transverse; great horizontal
Jiao Hui Intersecting point of Yin Wei Mai (Yin Linking Vessel) on the Foot Tai Yin (Spleen) channel
location: Level with the umbilicus, at the lateral edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, 4 cun from the midline, Ren Mai.
actions: promotes the flow of Qi; regulates the Spleen (especially Qi); removes Dampness from Spleen; ventilates and clears Stagnant Qi of the organs; regulates and moistens the Intestines; reduces Food Stagnation and transforms Damp-Heat (especially intestinal); relieves abdominal distension
indications: intractable sadness; influenza; edema; dysenteric disorders with or without blood; enterocolitis; appendicitis; abdominal distention; lower abdominal pain or cold; stomach prolapse; intestinal paralysis; parasitic worms in the intestines; diarrhea; constipation; fatigued extremities; excessive perspiration
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.8 - 1.0 cun, producing with a sensation of local distention and soreness;
transverse insertion, for parasitic worms in the intestines, the needle is inserted toward the navel, 0.5 - 1.5 cun, producing a sensation of local distention and soreness, possibly spreading throughout the side of the abdomen on which this point is needled (Shanghai, p. 184)
moxa: 5 - 10 cones of direct moxa; 10 - 20 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

» with LI-20 eliminates parasites and eases constipation (Finkelstein, p. 11)
