Master point and Entry point of the Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Motility Vessel); Couple point of Ren Mai (Conception Vessel); Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Foot Xiao Yin (Kidney) channel and the Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Motility Vessel)
location: In the depression, 1 cun inferior to the medial malleolus, inferior to the tibialis posterior, opposite to Shen Mai (Bl-62).
diagnostic uses: steroid hormone reflex point (Nagano as per Matsumoto)
actions: pacifies the Shen and stabilizes the Will; nourishes the Heart; cools and clears Heat; clears Xu (Deficiency) Fire; removes Obstruction from the Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Motility Vessel); opens the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel); balances excess or deficiency of any hormonal secretion and stimulates adrenals (Finkelstein, p. 53); brightens the eyes and sends Zhong (Ancestral) Qi to the eyes via the Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Motility Vessel); clears the Lung and tonifies Lung Yin; benefits the throat; sedates cough, esp. chronic; tonifies the Kidney (especially Yin); strengthens adrenals (esp. after trauma-induced stress) (Matsumoto); moistens dryness; dispels Dampness; eliminates excess fluid retention and initiates diuresis; promotes function of the Uterus; regulates the Lower Warmer and menses; expedites labor; induces placental ejection if retained after childbirth; promotes bowel movement; strengthens the lower back and loins; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels; sedates pain
indications: stress-induced trauma and subsequent adrenal fatigue (Matsumoto); sad, esp. during the night; stage fright; psychotic episodes or epilepsy aggravated at night; hemiplegia; headaches; migraine; insomnia; blurred vision or inability to keep eyes open; visual disturbances, such as floaters, spots and stars, usually when looking at distant objects; pharyngeal pain or swelling; tonsillitis; blocked throat; dry throat; chronic dry cough; asthma; lower abdominal pain; constipation; hernial disorders; menopausal syndrome with Heat; difficult labor; uterine prolapse; irregular menstruation; leukorrhea; pruritus vulvae; itching genitals; gonorrhea; involuntary erections; frequent urination; four limbs weary (Mann, p. 44); neuralgia in arm and hand
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.3 - 0.5 cun, producing soreness and numbness spreading toward the calf and ankle
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
