definition and etiology

» conventional diagnoses: kidney infection; bladder infection

» etiology: Kidney Yang weakened by excessive sexual activity; invasion by Cold and/or Damp after excessive exposure to such an environment, esp. during menstruation

signs and symptoms

» signs and symptoms:

• intolerance to cold

• weak lower back and knees

• urinary incontinence

pale urine

frequent abundant urination

• enuresis

» pulse: deep, frail/weak

» tongue: pale, wet; possible white coating

course and prognosis

» principle of treatment: tonify Bladder and Kidney Qi; warm Bladder and Kidney Yang
