chong men = penetrating door; rushing gate
Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Foot Jue Yin (Liver) channel on the Foot Tai Yin (Spleen) channel
location: On the inguinal groove, level with the upper border of the pubis symphysis, lateral to the femoral artery, approximately 3-4 cun from the midline, Ren Mai.
actions: transforms Damp-Heat; facilitates Qi and Xue (Blood) flow
indications: gestational edema; dyspnea; insufficient lactation; breast abscess; abdominal pain and distention; gastric spasm; pain of hernia; rectal prolapse; endometriosis; endometritis; menorrhagia; dysmenorrhea; leukorrhea; orchitis; epididymitis; painful urinary dysfunction; retention of urine
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.5 - 0.8 cun; caution: avoid puncturing artery
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
combinations:
» with UB-24, UB-25, St-3, Sp-10, Sp-9 and Sp-6, with indirect moxa over site of pain, for chronic appendicitis (Shanghai, p. 640);
» with Lv-4, St-30, LI-4, Sp-6 and GB-21 for difficult labor (Shanghai, p. 677).
