Ginseng and Gypsum C.= Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang = "White Tiger plus Ginseng Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Fever, extreme thirst, profuse sweating, fatigue, hard stools, increased urination.
tongue and pulse: Large, forceful pulse.
indications: Injury to Qi and Fluids due to Yang Ming Channel Heat or Qi Stage Heat. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as influenza, epidemic meningitis, encephalitis B, pneumonia, heatstroke with high fever and thirst, diabetes mellitus, dermatitis, urticaria, eczema, cholecystitis, nephritis, uremia, and nocturnal enuresis.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated in cases of fever due to Spleen and Stomach Qi Xu (Deficiency) with spontaneous sweating and a deficient, floating pulse; in cases of True Cold and False Heat characterized by fever with a desire for warmth, thirst with no desire to drink, and a flooding but weak pulse. Stop the formula immediately if signs of headache, stiffness of the neck, cold limbs, subjective sensations of cold, or impairment of mental abilities occur.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 20 grams: gypsum (shi gao).
» 15 grams: oryza (jing mi).
» 10 grams: ginseng (ren shen).
» 9 grams: anemarrhena (zhi mu).
» 3 grams: honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao).
