location: Between the 4th and 5th fingers, proximal to the margin of the web, with the fist clenched.
actions: clears and drains Heat, esp. pathogenic Heat in the San Jiao (Triple Warmer); dispels Wind; facilitates flow of Qi; disperses Stagnation; moistens Dryness; generates Fluids; reduces swelling; relieves pain; moistens the throat; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels
indications: febrile diseases; malaria; headache, esp. migraine; deafness; tinnitus; partial hearing loss; dizziness; painful reddening of the eyes; conjunctivitis; toothache; gingivitis; laryngopharyngitis; sore and swollen throat; dryness and swelling and voice loss; pain on both sides of the spine; icy cold extremities; painful swelling of the hand and arm; paralysis of the hand and fingers; pain and swelling of the fingers; inability of the fingers to extend and flex freely; fingers cramped
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.2 - 0.5 cun
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

» with Lu-10 to treat sore throat (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 281);
» with LI-4, Lu-10 and Lu-11 (-) for "'silkworm butterfly angina'" due to Toxic Heat in which "the throat presents the appearance of two silkworms lying upon a small cushion (tonsils) which are inflamed, red and painful" (McWilliams, et al., Lesson 31, p. 216);
