exercise

• stretching exercises: - palms together, raise elbows up and out, hold for 6-10 sec - backs of hands together, raise elbows up and out, hold for 6-10 sec. - sit, rest arm on table fully extended - pull back on wrist with other hand, hold 6-10 sec, repeat with wrist in flexion
• strengthening: - grasp dumbbell with arm supported on chair, arm and wrist hanging overuse dumbbell for wrist flexion hold in that position then wrist extension and hold in that position then radial and ulnar deviation and hold in each position for several seconds
• water exercises for elbows and wrists


hydrotherapy

• ice pack
• paraffin bath


manipulation

• spine: check for anterior cervical
fixation ipsilaterally.
also first rib ipsilaterally.
• transverse friction massage:
to tenoperiosteal junction
(5 mins), follow with ice
massage: repeat 1-2x/wk for
3-4 weeks.
home care:
alternate hot/cold packs twice daily.


electrical and oscillating

• diathermy
• TENS: for analgesia
