location: 3 cun above Kun Lun (Bl-60), behind the Achilles tendon, level with Jue Gu (GB-39).
actions: regulates Qi; dispels Wind and clears Heat; promotes flow of Xue (Blood); disperses Damp-Heat; effects the Yang Qiao Mai (Yang Motility Vessel); eliminates mild toxins (Finkelstein, p. 50); relaxes the sinews, tendons and muscles; benefits and strengthens the lower back; relieves pain and spasm along the Bladder channel; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels, e.g., headache; sedates pain
indications: epilepsy; sensation of heaviness in the head; headache; hemorrhoids; "rheumatoid arthritis in males" (Finkelstein, p. 50); low back pain; lumbosacral pain causing inability to stand; sciatica; pain and paralysis of lower limb; thigh swollen; stiffness of knee or ankle; pain in calf; pain and swelling of ankle joint; rheumatism of ankle; external malleolus pain or inflammation
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 2.0 cun
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
