indications: edema; angina pectoris, esp. when accompanied by sensation of Qi rising upward in the body; anorexia; vomiting; indigestion; stomach pain; acute and chronic gastritis; abdominal pain and/or distension; spasms of the lower abdomen; borborygmi; ascites
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 2.0 cun
moxa: 5 - 10 cones of direct moxa; 10 - 20 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole; moxibustion contraindicated during pregnancy
combinations:
» with PC-6 opens the chest and diaphragm, harmonizes the Stomach, and stops vomiting (-); reduces Heart Fire to ease the Mind (Finkelstein, p. 88); "sweep away bitterness in the chest" (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 356);
