dietary guidelines

eating principles:
• eat as little as possible
• increase foods rich in Vitamin C and A
• increase fluids
• short fast (see Fasting in materia medica)

therapeutic foods:
• burdock and dandelion tea

fresh juices:
• carrot (Shefi)

specific remedies:
• mash sprouted red (adzuki) beans and apply (Ni, p. 79)
• grind 50-70 small red beans into powder, mix with warm water and egg white or honey to make a cream and apply to affected area, cover with bandage (Lu, p. 108)
• mix potato juice with vinegar and apply to affected area (Lu, p. 95)
• carrot poultice
• take 60 g mung beans and simmer until partly cooked. Add 200 g Chinese cabbage and cook for 20 minutes. Serve per day- twice daily for several days (Chao-liang, Qing-rong, Bao-zhen, p. 74)

avoid:
• meat, alcohol, hot sauces, spicy foods, fried foods, fatty foods, rich foods, salty foods, coffee, caffeine, sweet foods and sugar, alcohol, cow's milk and other dairy products, white bread, refined foods, processed foods, catarrh-forming foods: tofu, ice cream, heavy protein foods, vinegars, shellfish
