conditions that can exhibit an increase in PMNs:

Acute infection; Abscesses; Polycythemia; Late pregnancy; Adrenal dysfunction; Gout; Rheumatoid arthritis.

conditions that can exhibit a decrease in PMNs: Chronic infection; Several childhood diseases; SLE (values are normal to depressed); Anemias (iron, B12, folic acid, B6); Bone marrow depression.

conditions that can exhibit an increase in nonsegmented neutrophils (bands): normally 2-5%: Acute infection.
