Xi Cleft Accumulation point of the Hand Tai Yang (Small Intestine) channel
location: In the bony cleft on the radial side of the ulnar styloid process, with the palm facing the chest.
actions: brightens the eyes and improves the vision; clears Heat from the eyes; relaxes the muscles and sinews; benefits the joints; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels
indications: hemiplegia; eye diseases; impaired vision; dull eye pain; bloodshot eyes; sunken and heavy feeling of the eye; stiff neck; torticollis; arthritis of the arm; pain, paralysis and neuralgia of the arm; shoulder and arm dislocation; pain in the back, shoulder, elbow and forearm; pain between scapulae, esp. rhomboid spasm; pain of hernia; low back pain; restriction of movement in the lumbar area
needle technique: oblique insertion proximally, toward PC-6, 0.4 - 0.6 cun, producing a sensation of soreness and numbness in hand and wrist, possibly spreading to elbow or shoulder
moxa: 3 cones of direct moxa; 10 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

» with SI-6 joined to PC-6, SI-9 joined to Ht-1 for perifocal inflammation of shoulder joint (Shanghai, p. 239);
» with UB-10 for "shoulder pain [so severe that the patient] wants to break it off" (Shanghai, p. 607);
