infusion

» an infusion is a beverage made like a tea by combining boiling water with the plants and steeping to extract their active ingredients

directions:

1. use one (1) tablespoon of herb per 8 ounces water; using enamel, glass or porcelain pot, put dry herbs into pot and pour boiling water over the herbs; cover pot with tight-fitting lid

2. steep for 5 -15 minutes

3. strain the infusion into another container (to make one cup only, place herbs in a teaball and steep in the cup)

4. an infusion should be taken lukewarm or cool

This process can be done one cup at a time as needed, or enough liquid for up to three days may be made at one time and stored in the refrigerator in a tightly covered glass jar. Do not make more than three days’ supply at one time. (NCNM Pharmacy)
