Qu Tiao Tang = "Expel Tapeworms Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Tapeworm infestation with abdominal pain and distention, diarrhea, and anal itching. In severe cases there will be weakness, a sallow complexion, weight loss, and dizziness.
tongue and pulse:
indications: Tapeworms.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated during pregnancy.
ingredients:
» 60 grams: pumpkin seeds (nan gua zi).
» 30 grams: areca seed (bing lang).
administration: Take the first herb in powdered form, followed two hours later by a concentrated decoction of the second herb. Within 4-5 hours the patient should have diarrhea that contains tapeworms. If the heads are not present, repeat in 2-3 weeks. For best results, the patient should refrain from eating the night before treatment. The dosage should be reduced for children.
