Yuan Source, Shu Stream, Earth and Tonification point of the Hand Tai Yin (Lung) channel; Hui Reunion point of Xue (Blood) vessels
location: At the radial end of the transverse crease of the wrist, in the depression on the radial side of radial artery.
actions: opens sensory Orifices; regulates all Yang Qi; moves the Xue (Blood) and restores pulses; ventilates, moistens and regulates the Lung; facilitates circulation of Lung Qi; regulates and balances Lung channel; tonifies Lung Qi and Lung Yin; tonifies Metal to cool inflammatory processes and restrain Wood, esp. the Liver; cools and clears Heat in the Lung, Liver and throat; clears and descends the Upper Warmer and Lung Qi; increases oxygen absorption; transforms Dampness and Phlegm; stops coughing and calms wheezing; stops bleeding (hemoptysis)
indications: rapidly alternating fevers and chills; sensation of Qi rising upward through the body; insomnia; coma; heat stroke; agitation and irritability; claustrophobia; headache; scalp neuralgia; facial paralysis; pain in the eye; membrane on the eye; keratitis; conjunctivitis; thirsty with dry mouth; toothache; nausea; vomiting; sore throat; influenza; chronic cough, esp. with thick, sticky yellow phlegm; bronchitis; pertussis; asthma; dyspnea; wailing sound with respiration; emphysema; pulmonary tuberculosis; hemoptysis; chest pain; intercostal neuralgia; numbness of the chest; palpitations; hematemesis; stenosis of the esophagus; colitis; fecal incontinence; armpit pain; pain in medial aspect of the forearm; brachial neuralgia; lack of radial pulse; pain and debility of wrist, esp. affecting the radial side; sensation of heat in the palms
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.2 - 0.3 cun, producing localized pain
moxa: 1 - 3 cones of direct moxa; 3 - 5 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
