signs and symptoms: Red eyes, sore throat, mouth and tongue sores, fidgeting, thirst.
tongue and pulse: Thin greasy tongue coat, forceful and rapid pulse.
indications: Summer-Heat with Dampness. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as febrile diseases in warm weather.
cautions and contraindications: Use with caution in treating weak, elderly or Yin-deficient patients because this may deplete the Qi or Fluids. Contraindicated in cases with copious, clear urine or Summer-Heat without Dampness.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 18 grams: talc (hua shi).
» 3 grams: honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao), indigo (qing dai).
