location: In the depression below Kun Lun (Bl-60) at the junction of the red and white skin.
actions: calms the Shen; reinforces the Kidney; strengthens the bones; dispels Dampness and swelling; relaxes the muscles and tendons; frees the channels and collateral vessels; relieves pain
indications: madness; apparitions of ghosts (Mann, p. 41); mania; depression; epilepsy; fainting; beriberi; muscle spasms due to severe vomiting and diarrhea (Zhang, et al, p. 151); gonorrhea; turbid strangury; low back pain; weakness of the lower limbs; inflammation of the knee; pain in ankle and foot; atrophy of the foot muscle; heel pain
needle technique: perpendicular or oblique insertion, 0.3 - 0.5 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, possibly spreading toward the little toe
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
