definition

second chakra:

• The second chakra, in contrast to the first, is firmly anchored by the sacrum, the densest bone in the spinal column. This anchor, plus the deep curve of the sacrum, functionally contribute to make this the densest of the spinal energy centers. The intensity and inherent force of this vortex is reflected in the power of sexuality. In kundalini yoga, the energy in this chakra is directed upwards in the spine, profoundly accentuating the activity of the centers lying above it. Motoyama's text "Theories of the Chakras" indicates there is a reciprocal flow of energy between the first and second chakras, and that it is not until the third chakra is activated that a constant upward movement of energies takes place. (Smith, p. 54)

• Located between the navel and the genitals, it relates to the testicles in men and the ovaries in women. This is the source of creativity and creation, including the creation of all levels of relationship through contact with other human beings through sexuality. Meditation on this chakra empowers self-actualization, forming ourselves as individuals through intimacy and association with others. COLOR IS ORANGE, KEYNOTE IS D. (Serinus, p. 165)

• Sacral is lower creative center. This consciousness relates to all aspects of life from procreation to development of divine unity. Source of vitality, it allows for the creative expression of personality, the distinctiveness of the individual, the emotional make-up, mannerisms, and ideas. This enables the generation of pure expression and the attainment of Divine Unity. Associated with the ovaries, testicles, reproductive organs. (Easley)

Hypogastric plexus: Sexual aspect, physical manifestation of love, represents man as a unity. (Van Gelder)
