location: In the center of the infralabial groove.

actions: dispels Wind; settles tetany; dispels Dampness; disperses swelling; clears the collateral vessels; relieves pain

indications: insanity; mania and withdrawal; fear; emaciation; epilepsy; hemiplegia; facial swelling and paralysis; trismus; toothache; dental caries; excessive thirst; mouth ulcers; gingivitis; excessive salivation; loss of voice, esp. sudden; diabetes; pain and stiffness in the head and back of the neck (Mann, p. 77)

needle technique: upward oblique insertion, 0.2 - 0.5 cun, producing a local sensation of pain and distension; or

penetrate laterally along the lower lip to St-4

moxa: 2 - 3 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
