Pteropus and Bulrush F. = Shi Xiao San = "Sudden Smile Powder"

signs and symptoms: Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, acute, colicky pain in the abdomen; retention of the lochia, postpartum abdominal pain, pain and swelling due to external injuries.
tongue and pulse: Dark red tongue with purple spots, hesitant or wiry and tight pulse.
indications: Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) in Lower Warmer. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as coronary artery disease, abdominal pain in women, postpartum bleeding, endometriosis, lochioschesis, and pain due to external injuries.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution in cases with Stomach Qi Xu (Deficiency).
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 10 grams: pteropus (wu ling zhi), bulrush pollen (pu huang).
modifications:
» for concurrent Cold, add quick-fried ginger (pao jiang), artemesia (qi ye), fennel (xiao hui xiang) and lindera (wu yao).
» for severe Qi Stagnation, add cyperus (xiang fu) or take with Jin Ling Zi San (Melia Toosendan Powder).
» for irregular menstruation due to a pattern of Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) and Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency), take with Tang Kuei Four C. (Si Wu Tang).
