ci liao = second bone hole; second sacral bone
"same function as associated point of the Bladder" (Finkelstein, p. 46)
location: In the depression directly over the 2nd sacral foramen, midway between the lower border of the PSIS and the Ren Mai (Governing Vessel).
actions: redirects Qi upward; brings Yang into pelvic region which mobilizes Yin in the pelvis (Finkelstein, p. 46); regulates the Bladder, Lower Warmer and menstruation; promotes urination; transforms Damp-Heat; consolidates the Jing (Essence); invigorates the Xue (Blood) and Kidney Qi; removes Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) in the Uterus; opens the pelvis and disperses Lower Warmer Stagnation; expedites labor; strengthens the lower back and legs; tonifies waist and knees
indications: sequelae of infantile paralysis; paralysis of the lower limb; vomiting; swollen epigastrium; borborygmi; peritonitis; anal fissures; hemorrhoids; diarrhea; valuable point for diseases affecting the genitals for both men and women (Mann, p. 36); uterine prolapse; leukorrhea; ovarian pain or inflammation; dysmenorrhea; irregular menstruation; delayed labor; infertility; sterility; impotence; inflammation of the scrotum; orchitis; painful urination; red urine; urinary retention; pain and diseases of the lumbosacral joint; sciatica; pain and stiffness in loin and knee; skin irritation in the genital region
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, soreness and distension in the sacral region, sometimes spreading to the legs
moxa: 5 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 10 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
