Shi Wei San = "Powder of Pyrrosia Leaf"

signs and symptoms: Urinary tract stones; urination with burning pain, urine color yellowish-red and turbid, with small stones; sudden discontinuation of urination, subtle pain in the lower abdomen and lower back.
tongue and pulse: Greasy tongue coat, wiry/taut or rapid pulse.
indications: Lower Warmer Damp-Heat causing Lin Syndrome. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as cystitis, urelithiasis, urethritis, gallstones, and acute nephritis.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated in pregnancy.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 6 grams: pyrrosia leaf (shi wei), plantago (che qian zi), talc (hua shi).
» 3 grams: akebia (mu tong), pink dianthus (qu mai), malva seed (dong kui zi).
» 1 gram: licorice (gan cao).
» 5 slices: fresh ginger
modifications:
» for stones, add lysimachia (jin qian cao).
» for stones with cholesterol, add lysimachia (jin qian cao) and chicken gizzard skin (ji nei jin).
» for acute pain, add lysimachia (jin qian cao), white peony (bai shao yao) and licorice (gan cao).
» if chronic case, have them jump down the stairs to dislodge the stone.
» for hematuria, add small thistle (xiao ji), raw rehmannia (sheng di huang) and lotus node (ou jie).
» for fever, add dandelion (pu gong ying).
» if patient is tired, weak, with pale tongue and pale face, especially after chronic bleeding, add Four Major Herbs (Si Jun Zi Tang) and Tang Kuei Four C. (Si Wu Tang).
