Entry point of the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel); Jiao Hui Intersecting point of Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel) and Foot Xiao Yang (Gall Bladder) channel; special point for gynecological disorders and paralysis

location: Directly inferior to the free end of the 11th rib, level with the umbilicus, just above the superior edge of illiac crest.

actions: regulates the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel); special point for treating gynecological conditions; alleviates Damp-Heat; promotes Kidney Qi circulation; regulates menses; stops leukorrhea; relaxes muscles of the lumbar spine, esp. iliopsoas; clears and invigorates the channels

indications: paraplegia due to trauma; anxious feeling inside the body, heavy feeling of the posterior part of body (Mann, p. 65); lower abdominal pain; diarrhea; false urge to defecate or urinate, esp. due to pelvic pressure in women; sensation of being seated in water; cystitis; dysmenorrhea; endometriosis; profuse menses; irregular menstruation; leukorrhea; uterine or vaginal prolapse; hernial disorders; lumbosacral pain; sciatica

needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, producing soreness and distension on the side of the waist that is needled

moxa: 5 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

» with shen ji, GB-30, tiao yue and si qiang for paraplegia (Shanghai, p. 187);

» with CV-3 and CV-4 reinforces Ren Mai (Conception Vessels) and Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) to supplement the Qi of the chest (Finkelstein, p. 67);
