Tang Kuei and Peony F. = Dang Gui Shao Yao San = "Tang kuei and Peony Powder"

signs and symptoms: Mild abdominal pain, anemia, pallor, general lassitude, vertigo, lower back pain.
tongue and pulse: pale tongue with thin coating, deep and weak pulse.
indications: Liver Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency) with Liver Qi Stagnation. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as abdominal pain, habitual or threatened miscarriage, premature rupture of the membranes, primary dysmenorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, postpartum weakness, menstrual irregularity, chronic nephritis, cystitis, hemorrhoids, lumbago.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated in a patient with nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 6 grams: Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), white peony (bai shao yao), white atractylodes (bai zhu), cnidium (chuan xiong), poria (fu ling), alisma (ze xie).
modifications:
» for relatively Cold presentations, add cinnamon twig (gui zhi) and evodia (wu zhu yu).
» for relatively Hot presentations, add moutan (mu dan pi) and gardenia (zhi zi).
» for edema during menstruation due to Kidney Qi Xu (Deficiency), add curculigo (xian mao) and epimedium (yin yang huo).
» for rather severe Dampness with edema and amenorrhea, take with Hoelen Five Herb F. (Wu Ling San).
» for threatened miscarriage, add cardamon (sha ren), eucommia (du zhong), dipsacus (xu duan), artemesia (zi ye) and scute (huang qin).
» for hepatomegaly, add saussurea (mu xiang), curcuma (yu jin) and chih-shih (zhi shi).
