indications: pain, atrophy, inflammation and inhibited movement of the shoulder when pain radiates towards the anterior aspect of the shoulder; frozen shoulder; paralysis of the upper extremities; hypertension; excessive sweating
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, toward the back of the shoulder for most conditions; slanted insertion, 2 - 3 cun for tenosynovitis of the long head of the biceps (Shanghai, p. 223)
