Home Care

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition associated with pain, numbness, and tingling of the wrist and last three fingers of the hand. It is caused by compression of a nerve in the wrist.

Symptoms are often worse at night. People who usually suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome are carpenters, typists, or others who work with their hands.

THE FOLLOWING SUPPLEMENTS ARE USED AND CAN BE TAKEN UNTIL SYMPTOMS IMPROVE:

1. Vitamin B6 – 200 milligrams per day.

2. Vitamin B-complex – 25 to 50 milligrams per day.

3. Bromelain – This is a non-toxic herbal anti-inflammatory. Use 250 to 500 milligrams 3 times per day between meals.

PHYSICAL THERAPY MEASURES INCLUDE:

1. Alternating hot and cold. Submerge your hands and forearms in either a pail or sink full of hot water. Leave for 3 minutes, then immediately switch to cold water for 30 seconds. Repeat 2 or more times, finishing with cold. Do this twice daily.

2. Ultrasound and acupuncture treatments are also helpful for this ailment. You may want to look for a licensed practitioner in your area.
